Alan Johnson and Curt Ukasik, two of hot rodding’s star builders and former Goodguys Trendsetter award winners will be on hand at this year’s 14th PPG Nationals presented by Bridgestone July 8-10 in Columbus, Ohio to select the coveted Builder’s Choice awards. Both Johnson and Ukasik will be onsite throughout the weekend in Columbus to hand pick ten awards each for a total of 20 Builder’s Choice awards at the biggest Goodguys event of the year!

Johnson opened Johnson’s Hot Rod Shop in Gadsden, Alabama in 1993 building numerous landmark rods, customs and muscle cars including the “G Force Cuda” and Doug Cooper’s “Deucenberg B400” among others. He was named Goodguys Trendsetter in the year 2000.
Ukasik burst on the scene several years back when his company RPM Hot Rods made a splash by building the 2009 Hot Rod of the Year – Bill Steel’s bitchin Model A. Ukasik and his team then built the “BOSS SNAKE” Goodguys Giveaway car in 2010. He was named Goodguys Trendsetter at the 2010 SEMA Show. With a vision to build cutting edge cars that combine reliability, style and extreme performance, he has taken RPM Hot Rods to the forefront of the industry.
The 14th PPG Nationals Builder’s Choice special parking area will be open for participants Friday, July 8th and Saturday, July 9th. All cars considering a run for the Goodguys 2011 Classic Instruments Street Rod of the Year and the Goodguys 2011 Optima Batteries Street Machine of the Year are required to park in the Builder’s Choice area both Friday and Saturday.
