24th West Coast Nationals Welcomes Muscle Cars Through ’72!

July 29, 2010

Muscle Cars will dot the landscape for the first time in the 24 year history of the West Coast Nationals presented by Flowmaster Mufflers as rods, customs, classics and muscle cars from over 15 states converge on Pleasanton August 27, 28 & 29. Muscle cars and street machines are a large part of all Goodguys events and with the welcome mat being extended to them for the first time at the West Coast Nationals, the event will take on a new and exciting look.

In addition to celebrating the arrival of Muscle Cars, The Goodguys staff will be looking for a finalist for the 2010 Muscle Car of the Year award as well as other awards such as “Mighty Muscle,” “Cool Camaro”, “Ford Muscle,” “Mopar Muscle,” “Chevy Muscle,” “Mighty Mustang,” and “Slick 60s.”

“We know the event will be better than ever with more variety, more cars to see and new vendors to visit, thus enhancing the appeal of the show for all participants and spectators,” said Goodguys President Marc Meadors. “We have the room for another 500 cars. All Muscle Car and Street Machine guys have an open invitation to join us in Pleasanton August 27-29.”

The event itself is shaping up to be a blockbuster. Goodguys have extended the popular evening cruising hours for this year’s event keeping gates open Friday and Saturday evening until 10pm. Several bands have been booked including “Night Shift” and the “Take 2 Party Band.” Live music and dance parties are scheduled for both Friday and Saturday evenings.

Hundreds of vendor exhibits, a swap meet & car corral, arts & crafts exhibit, kids games, the popular model car & miniature engine exhibit, seminars and special parking areas will make for a blockbuster event!

The West Coast Nationals also means awards – and lots of them! Goodguys will crown America’s Most Beautiful Street Rod Saturday night August 28th. Tom Medley will personally attend the event to select the traditional “Stroker McGurk” award (which goes to a bitchin’ hot rod roadster) as well as the ’40 Fords Forever Pick. Other tradition-rich award in Pleasanton include the Bill B Memorial, Jim Ewing Memorial and Bruce Olson Memorial awards. The Goodguys Builder’s Choice awards, Street Rodder Magazine Top 100, Truck of the Year Early finalist and Muscle Car of the Year finalist will also be featured awards along with dozens of other picks.

The 24th West Coast Nationals presented by Flowmaster Mufflers officially gets underway Thursday night August 26th with the kickoff party at the Pleasanton Marriott but there will be plenty of activity starting as early as Monday, August 23rd with Hot Rod Week!

We hope to see you in Pleasanton with your hot rod, custom, classic or muscle car! For more visit the official event website http://www.ggwestcoastnats.com/

Morrison’s Ready for Puyallup Builder’s Choice Picks

July 19, 2010

Renwoned chassis and suspension specialists, hot rodders and enthusiasts Art & Craig Morrison of Art Morrison Enterprises will be on hand this weekend to select the coveted “Builder’s Choice” awards at the 23rd Pacific Northwest Nationals at the Puyallup Fair & Events Center as well as exhibit on the midway showing off their latest chassis and suspension components from the Morrison factory in Fife, WA.

This year’s awards, milled from solid aluminum were exclusively designed using the latest CAD technology and will be distributed to only ten cars at the event! “We are looking for cars that stand out in terms of overall engineering and finish,” The Morrison’s said. “Obviously we will be paying attention to the chassis and suspension improvements (regardless of mfg.) and vehicle engineering just as much as the exterior finishing of the vehicle.”

The Builder’s Choice area at the 23rd Pacific Northwest Nationals will be held Saturday, July 24th with all other special areas in the “Sillyville” plaza – a large open air space located on the backside of the fairgrounds.
