1939 Buick wins America’s Most Beautiful Street Rod Crown

August 29, 2011

Harold Wiley’s big, beautiful four door ‘39 Buick won the Goodguys 2011 Flowmaster America’s Most Beautiful Street Rod title at the 25th Goodguys West Coast Nationals in Pleasanton, CA. The two-tone Buick got the nod over an international cast of street rods marking the first time a four door has won the America’s Most Beautiful Street Rod crown.

Built by Kin-Dig-It Design in Salt Lake City the car blends traditional classic lines with a low slung modern street rod stance. The Kin-Dig-It Design team didn’t alter the car’s factory lines at all opting to keep it primarily stock. The factory chassis was boxed and sculpted using the latest goodies from TCI. The low stance is courtesy of a Ridetech air suspension featuring “Cool Rides” and “Shockwaves.” The stylish 17-inch wheels are Intro “Smoothies” with custom retro center caps designed in house at Kin-Dig-It.

The two tone PPG paint is a mix of pearl gray and white with subtle striping. Inside the roomy cabin is a regal blend of Burl wood and micro suede – perfect for comfortable road trips. Under the long, ultra straight and smooth hood resides a LS2 Chevy V8 with a trick hand fabricated intake and hand built inlet tubes. Everything under the hood is polished and painted with all wires neatly tucked away.

For Wiley, it was his first-ever Goodguys Terrific 12 award win. He had a premonition the car might do well at this season’s bigger events when it won the “Wasatch Cup” at the Salt Lake City Autorama during its debut weekend. For the big win in Pleasanton, Wiley will receive a trip to the Goodguys 14th Southwest Nationals this fall in Scottsdale to display his car in the “Champion’s arena” presented by Street Rod Headquarters. Snap-on will reward him with a custom tool box and for the mantle he received a billet aluminum award from Goodguys.

Fellow award finalists included Ron Beasly, Mobile, AL (’32 Ford), Steve Payne, Manila, Philippines (’33 Ford), Jeff Chandler (’33 Ford), Portland, OR (’33 Ford) and Pete Emory, Clackamus, OR (’36 Ford).

Meadors, Goodguys Racing Team Unleash “Pure Hell” at Super Chevy Sunday

August 24, 2011

Morrison, CO – Goodguys Rod & Custom Association President Marc Meadors drove the “Pure Hell2” ’69 Camaro Pro Mod to a popular win the “Super Chevy Sunday” event Sunday, August 21st at Bandimere Speedway outside Denver. It was the Goodguys Racing Team’s first victory this season running the West Coast Outlaw Pro Mod Division.

The “Pure Hell2” Camaro, built as a tribute to Rich Guasco’s legendary Northern California “Pure Hell” fuel altered, was stout right from the start of qualifying. An off-the-trailer 6.176 @ 234.21 landed the Goodguys team in the #2 qualifying spot, trailing only class leader Bret Williamson. It was on Sunday however the team shined the brightest.

During the opening round of eliminations, with the corrected altitude at over 9000’, Meadors ran a 6.149 @ 234.78 to beat the ’57 Chevy Cameo of Dan Myers. The run held up for Low ET and Top Speed of the entire weekend. Meadors then dispatched Rod Burbage and his ’58 Corvette in the semi final with a 6.180 @ 233.92, before winning the event over Mark Loveall’s Dodge Viper with a 6.203 @ 233.24 in the final. The Goodguys Racing Team ran Low ET and Top Speed of every elimination round to put an exclamation point on their first win of the season.

“The drag racing God’s smiled on us today up here on the Mountain,” said Meadors after the race. “The car and the entire Goodguys Racing team worked perfectly this weekend. We had a good feeling as soon as we ran the .17 off the trailer. It only got better from there. I can’t thank my crew guys enough for all the hard work they put in to get this car to run down the track like a 3,000 horsepower bracket car.”

The Goodguys Racing Team is sponsored by Red Line Oil, Darren Mayer from DMPE, Tim McAmis Race Cars, Andy’s T-Shirts and Ad’s That Work for their help. The team members include Jason Bunker, Billy Fereira and Cole Ruchonnet. For more visit
